I do. That's why I asked you here. [ shifting, she sets the toy car down and picks up a sheaf of papers, holding them out to natasha. it's unmistakably the deed to the studio. ]
[ Natasha takes the papers, brow furrowing deeply before she's looking back up at Gaby, stunned. ]
...the studio? You're... are you giving me the studio?
[ She's pretty sure that is what's happening but still. She needs to hear it from the woman in front of her. This honestly isn't something she ever expected. ]
I don't trust anyone else to take care of it and I don't know if I will come back, I wouldn't be fair to ask you to watch it for me. [ not when she could just give it to natasha. ]
I only ask that you keep the name. [ ivanov was illya's alias, a good sturdy russian name that would have been her fake married name. it's important to her. ]
[ She stares at Gaby for a long moment and then the deed. She quickly skims over it and feels a lump forming in her throat. She remembers wanting to be a ballerina when she was a small child.
The dancing she was taught in the Red Room wasn't the same but she applied herself. Always has. Wanted to be the best no matter what. She never, ever expected to get a genuine dance studio to run.
It wasn't until she came to Eudio that she was able to finally enjoy it again. Dancing just to dance.
Finally, she nods. Looking back up to Gaby. ]
I will. Promise.
[ She swallows hard and a genuine smile forms, not even trying to hold it back. ]
Thank you. I lost my place in my school in Germany, it would make it easier to leave knowing I will still have a place here.
[ gaby likes the life she has now, but it was ballet that gave her the patience and determination to wait two freakin' years behind the wall until the time came to be "rescued". ballet is still a large part of her life just because of all the discipline it gave her, it's home.
she's glad she can give even a tiny bit of that to natasha. ]
There is a cowboy here, Billy Rocks. Teach him how to pirouette for me.
[ At least as long as Natasha is here in this city, that dance studio will remain open. She breathes out a small laugh at the request, nodding again. ]
I'll see what I can do. Cowboys aren't exactly known for their gracefulness.
He and Goodnight might surprise you. [ unfolding from the chair, gaby stands up and steps toward natasha. she reaches out to squeeze her arm and leans in to kiss her cheek softly, gaby's version of a gentleman's agreement. ]
Danke, Natasha. Auf Wiedersehen. [ she draws back, smile a little sad but grateful that natasha is willing to take on the studio. ] Do svidaniya.
